self discovery, mental illness & food

Hello… Are you lost like me?

Posted on 1st July 2011

Welcome to my small byte of the internet. I’m giving you a never before seen look into the chaotic wisdom of my roller coaster mind. I am a mother. I am a wife. a daughter. a sister. an aunt and a contradiction in mental health.

If you are easily offended, I highly recommend you put your hands over your eyes and quickly hit the eject button. I’ve been saying nothing of importance for the last 39 years, living inside my head. This means I have a lot things to say.

For the most part I am doing this for my family. It is difficult to get to know me because there are two different personalities living inside me. One day the Bi-polar two year old is bouncing off walls and the next day the Schizoid loner is cringing at phone calls. The real person is somewhere in the middle and I’ve yet to find her.

Busy December!

Oven Door Dress Towels

I can’t believe how busy I have been for the last month. The last time I had this much energy & motivation, I was in my early thirties! I’ll be back to updating regularly in January, in fact I’m looking forward to it. Think I’m missing my daily dose of WordPress frustration!

I turned 40 in November. That’s right FORTY. It is very hard for me to believe that. Mostly because I’m such a kid in my head. It feels like I woke up one day and aged twenty years. UGH! Click here to read more.. »

Surprise your friends and family with this easy fried fish recipe. Serve with steak fries or my Home-made Crispy Fries and you’ll be speaking with a British accent in no time!

I don’t actually eat fish and neither does Megan, however it smelled wonderful! I made this for my husband’s benefit and he like it quite well. You could probably try making it with ale or try adding some spicier spices, such as cayenne pepper for some zing! Click here to read more.. »

Mouthwatering, delicious, tasty… just a few words to describe this flavorful recipe. Don’t be surprised if there are no left-overs!

The recipe is easy to make and there are several variations that could be done. If you don’t have a sirloin on hand, substitute ground beef, cube steak or stew meat. Try adding onions or peppers for more kick. Worcestershire or soy sauce can add some additional zest. Don’t be afraid to mix it up. Click here to read more.. »

This is my “special seasoning” for chicken and turkeys (probably works on any poultry). The meat is so tender it often falls apart! In fact, I’ve never made a dry chicken or turkey (yes, I’m knocking on wood as I write this!).

My husband looks forward to my turkey, so much so, that when I said I was making ham for Christmas, he pouted. We ended up with both that year! Nom Nom Nom! Click here to read more.. »

This recipe can be spicy as Latin lover or as tame as the proverbial kitty cat! All Chili recipes are unique in that you can add what you want without risk of ruining it, well within reason.

I’m proud to say I’ve won an award for my 3 Bean Ass Chili recipe, at my husband’s work. I created the recipe over the course of two months and then we whipped it up together the night before the judging. This is my next recipe.. hope you like it! Click here to read more.. »

Pandora Radio

Posted on 12th November 2011

A few months ago I stumbled across Pandora Internet Radio. If you love music but haven’t heard of it or have yet to try it, I encourage you to give it a whirl. It’s certainly worth the price – FREE! It does play a SHORT ad every 15 minutes or so.

I use the app on my iPad (which I better get a speaker for Christmas from Santa *hint hint*) and my husband uses the browser based version. I have rediscovered awesome music from my childhood that I had long forgotten. Click here to read more.. »
