Hello… Are you lost like me?

Welcome to my small byte of the internet. I am a mother. I am a wife. a daughter. a sister. an aunt and a contradiction in mental health.

It is difficult to get to know me because I have two very different personalities. One day the Bi-polar two year old is bouncing off walls and the next day the Schizoid loner is cringing at phone calls. The real person is somewhere in the middle and I’ve yet to find her.

I enjoy cooking (not baking! blech!) and love trying new recipes out on my husband. Strangely, I’m a picky eater and very rarely taste these culinary creations.

I began sewing when I was 8 with the guidance of my grandmother. In my spare time I sew ‘oven door dresses’ and sell them here & there. This is a good way for me to stay connected to the world.

Make this awesome layered dip for any party and get ready to hear how much people love you. Don’t bother making any other food because the party-goers will fill up on this and complain about how stuffed they are! My sister & brother-in-law actually asked me to fix it for them as night time snack!

Another nice feature of this recipe is that it’s vegetarian friendly – no meat. Although it does have cheese.

Every Woman’s Arts & Crafts Festival

Craft Show Booth - View 1

This past weekend I and my big, burly buddy (David!) spend Saturday at the Every Woman’s Arts & Crafts Festival in Radcliff, Ky at the Colvin Community Center. Unfortunately, the turnout for the show was really small. Probably less than 100 people.

I did sell a few towels and other items. Certainly not enough to cover my costs but I’m not too depressed about it. I learned quite a bit and “networked” with a few interesting artists. Read the rest of this entry »

Oven Door Towel Dress Madness

Pre-made Easter #3

The last five months have been spent sewing, sewing and yes, that’s right, sewing. I can’t say how grateful I am to the ladies at my husband’s work (US Recruiting Brigade at Ft. Knox). They have kept me sew busy!

This started with me making oven door towel dresses for Christmas presents. I got to kicking around the idea of making them as custom orders and perhaps, participating in a craft show/bazaar. I’m not really making any money. I thought this might be a good way to start interacting with people and finding a hobby that doesn’t involve my computer! Read the rest of this entry »

Busy December!

Oven Door Dress Towels

I can’t believe how busy I have been for the last month. The last time I had this much energy & motivation, I was in my early thirties! I’ll be back to updating regularly in January, in fact I’m looking forward to it. Think I’m missing my daily dose of WordPress frustration!

I turned 40 in November. That’s right FORTY. It is very hard for me to believe that. Mostly because I’m such a kid in my head. It feels like I woke up one day and aged twenty years. UGH! Read the rest of this entry »

Surprise your friends and family with this easy fried fish recipe. Serve with steak fries or my Home-made Crispy Fries and you’ll be speaking with a British accent in no time!

I don’t actually eat fish and neither does Megan, however it smelled wonderful! I made this for my husband’s benefit and he like it quite well. You could probably try making it with ale or try adding some spicier spices, such as cayenne pepper for some zing! Read the rest of this entry »

Mouthwatering, delicious, tasty… just a few words to describe this flavorful recipe. Don’t be surprised if there are no left-overs!

The recipe is easy to make and there are several variations that could be done. If you don’t have a sirloin on hand, substitute ground beef, cube steak or stew meat. Try adding onions or peppers for more kick. Worcestershire or soy sauce can add some additional zest. Don’t be afraid to mix it up. Read the rest of this entry »
